According to Sky Sports, West Ham are interesting in signing Wayne Rooney if Man Utd allow him to leave the club this summer. Having started just nine Premier League games since Jose Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford it is believed that Rooney will be allowed to leave Man Utd at the end of the season.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has previously commented saying he would welcome a return to Goodison Park for Wayne Rooney. However, there is likely to be interest from China, the MLS as well as a number of Premier League clubs.

Rooney became Manchester United's all time top goalscorer earlier this season, surpassing Bobby Charlton's record by scoring his 250th goal for the club but has been limited in his playing time under Jose Mourinho.

This season, he has made 30 appearances for the club in all competitions, making 19 starts and has scored six goals. Compared to his high standards in previous seasons that is neither good enough to justify his wages or enough playing time for somone of Rooney's stature.

That could persuade Jose Mourinho to sell his current club captain and West Ham are currently rated at a 12/1 chance to secure England's all time top goalscorer following the news broken by Sky Sports.
